Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. defeated Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon in an epic duel Saturday to win the 2020 NBA Slam Dunk Contest in Chicago's United Center. Derrick Jones Jr. is relishing his victory, calling himself the “best dunker in the NBA” after winning the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend Dunk Contest. Howard is known for his Slam Dunk Contest duels with Nate Robinson, including the famous slam in a Superman cape in 2008. The events of All-Star weekend come with incentives such as trophies, exposure for the lesser-known players, and an exciting weekend in the host city, but players are not working for free, either. Of the four participants, Dwight Howard is the only one to have won the Slam Dunk contest before, but this is his first time competing in the event since 2009, when he made the last of three consecutive appearances.
